The Secretary-General believes that these initiatives could help alleviate poverty, promote food security, and create jobs in Africa, especially for women and youth. The CAAPs initiative is to establish a number of cross-border agro-industrial parks within the regional economic communities, in order to provide over 8 million job opportunities within the crop and livestock value chains. The CAAPS program has already received USD 0.5 million in seed capital from Afreximbank, and is looking to attract more investors at an upcoming forum. The program is a 37-million-dollar investment, and is one of the concrete initiatives of the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) in support of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Malabo commitments.
